UofL Among Third Highest Projected Win Total

The fate of the Louisville football program hung in the balance when former Head Coach Scott Satterfield made a sudden exit. The passionate Louisville fans yearned for the return of their local hero, Jeff Brohm. However, days passed with no official announcement for the Head Football Coach position.

The city was abuzz with uncertainty until the news finally broke: Jeff Brohm, the head coach at Purdue, had agreed to a contract with Athletic Director Josh Heird to take the reins at the University of Louisville. The city erupted in excitement, and a palpable energy filled the air, something Louisville hadn’t experienced in years.

Satterfield’s departure to the University of Cincinnati left many scratching their heads, seemingly a lateral move. Yet, it paved the way for Louisville to reunite with its beloved trio: Greg, Jeff, and Brian Brohm.

Furthermore, even without having played a single game under Jeff Brohm’s leadership, the University of Louisville found itself among the top three in win projections for the ACC, according to 247Sports. Dabo Swinney and Clemson remained the ACC favorites, despite quarterback DJ Uiagalelei’s departure, with a projected 10 wins.

The North Carolina team led by Drake Maye secured the second spot with a projection of 8.5 wins. Maye and USC’s Caleb Williams were touted as the top two quarterbacks in the upcoming NFL Draft, with the potential to transform a franchise overnight. It was not an ideal scenario for Louisville to share a conference with such talent, but Jeff Brohm had a trick up his sleeve. He had two defensive backs, Cam’Ron Kelly and Storm Duck, who were once part of the Tar Heels and knew their playbook inside out.

Had Scott Satterfield still been at the helm of Louisville, the win projection might have hovered around 5.5 or 6.5 wins. For those curious, 247Sports projected Cincinnati football under Scott Satterfield to go 5-7 in their inaugural year at the Power Five level.
