Stoops pleased with O line in spite of a sloppy first Game

Mark Stoops, head coach of Kentucky, made improving the offensive line a primary priority throughout the offseason. The offensive coordinator for the Wildcats was replaced, and the team roster received five transfers for the offensive line. Zach Yenser’s position group needed to improve. Although it is only one instance, the Wildcats appeared stronger at the line of scrimmage versus Ball State. In 32 dropbacks, Devin Leary was sacked just once. Although Kentucky generally did not give up free runners, the pressure percentage (34.4%) was high, allowing Leary to employ his pocket mobility skills. The offensive line was instrumental in the run game’s 121 non sack rushing yards at 6.4 yards per carry. Kenneth Horsey, the starting left guard, was injured in the lower leg despite that.
