Eli Cox, an offensive lineman, has been selected the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week, the conference declared on Monday. Cox received recognition for his work in Week 2’s 28-17 victory over the EKU Colonels by the Wildcats.
Cox, a senior from Nicholasville, Kentucky, participated in every offensive snap and earned an 86% grade from the coaches. At both the right guard and center positions, he did not allow a QB pressure or sack and did not commit any penalties. After Jager Burton exited the game late with a slight injury, he started at right guard and finished at center.
In his 32nd game overall at Kentucky, Cox had made 24 starts, including 15 straight.
In the SEC right now, the Wildcats are ranked fourth in both yards per play and rushing yards per attempt. This stat can be tributed to the big blue wall up front.
